Family Programs

The Education Department offers programs designed to encourage children and families to explore, understand, and enjoy the Museums collection and exhibitions. Programs provide a variety of approach to looking at, talking about and interpreting art that creates rich learning environments for audiences of all ages to experience and enjoy art together. Please visit our Family Programs Calendar for the most up to date event listings, inlcuding our popular Park Bench and Home School Day programs.

Family Guides
Explore the Museum’s galleries together. MAM’s Family Guides encourage close looking and discovery through activities including scavenger hunts, compare-and-contrast activities, and projects to do at home that help engage young viewers with art. Birthday Art Parties at MAM!
Spend that special day making exciting art projects at MAM’s Yard School of Art. It’s the perfect way to encourage and celebrate your child’s energy and creative spirit. If desired, partygoers may use our permanent collection as inspiration through a gallery visit. During the first hour, partygoers create an arts and crafts project led by one of our talented and professional art teachers. During the second hour, refreshments, provided by parents, are served. Projects can be designed based on your individual child’s interests. Please don’t dress to impress – come with smocks!

Price: $20/child
Saturday and Sunday afternoons. 12 child minimum, 20 child maximum.

Party hosts must be Dual/Family members of the Montclair Art Museum.
For details call 973-259-5159, or email khutson@montclairartmuseum.org.
