Bookmaking Workshop: Japanese Binding

Bookmaking Workshop: Japanese Binding

4:00 pm
6:30 pm

Learn how to make your own small books using the art of Japanese stab binding–a creative stitching pattern used to securely bind together multiple single sheets of paper in a decorative pattern. We will begin with a four-hole stitch and then progress to more complex patterns such as hemp leaf or tortoiseshell. Participants will complete two finished books to use as notebooks, sketchbooks, or gifts.

All materials and tools are provided. No prior experience is required.
