Naked Raku: Special Techniques For the Advanced Potter
The Raku Experience! Immerse yourself in the Raku process in this is a fast paced workshop in which you will learn Glazing, Obverse, Horse Hair, Slip resist, Ferric staining, tin foil saggar and spray. Take your work home that day with a strong understanding of the range of Raku.
Participants must bring bisqueware pots to be prepped the day of; up to 12 pots of average size. Pieces over 10x6x6 inches will be subject to kiln space availability. No plates or bowls. Glazes and materials will be provided.
*For best results Naked Raku pots should be burnished before bisque firing to cone 08. Please feel free to contact the studio for instructions on this process or to acquire terra sig.
Participants must wear 100% natural fiber (cotton) clothing, nothing synthetic, and shoes with closed toes.

Steve Jaskowak
Stephen Jaskowak has been working with clay, in one capacity or another, on a daily basis since 1983. He started out as a functional potter working in potteries throughout Wisconsin. He received his B.A. in 1996 from the University of Wisconsin– Parkside and his M.F.A. from Miami University in 1998. Steve has been the ceramic studio manager at MAM since 2012 and is currently an adjunct professor at Kean University. Steve likes listening to the Grateful Dead and has been to over 437 of their concerts.
