Public Talk—Holly Wilson, Sarah Sense, and Elizabeth James-Perry: Interweavings

Public Talk—Holly Wilson, Sarah Sense, and Elizabeth James-Perry: Interweavings

7–8 p.m. | OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

To conclude the opening day of Interwoven Power: Native Knowledge / Native Art, Holly Wilson (Delaware Nation), Sarah Sense (Chitimacha/Choctaw), and Elizabeth James Perry (Aquinnah Wampanoag) will speak together about the activation of Native women’s knowledges in their work. In varied media such as glass and bronze (Wilson), wampum and natural fibers (Perry), and paper (Sense), their artworks on view experiment with the beadwork and weaving practices of their forebears, resulting in new forms and powerful expressions of legacy and sovereignty.

Moderated by Curator of Native American Art Laura J. Allen.

Free to MAM members, $20 for nonmembers. Non-member tickets to this talk allow entry to MAM as early as 6 p.m. to view the exhibition beforehand.
