Homeschool Day: Winter Wonderland

Third Thursday of the month
1:00 pm
2:30 pm

When it’s cold outside, stay cozy making art with MAM from home! Learn the science behind snowflakes while creating a one-of-a-kind watercolor painting of falling snow. Be inspired by the winter weather captured by artist George Inness in his painting Winter Morning

Registration includes free admission to visit the Museum in-person following the lesson, at your own convenience.

Join us for a virtual tour of Montclair Art Museum, right from your home, followed by an art-making studio workshop led by our talented teaching artists over the Zoom platform. Our participatory tours encourage interaction, as students are guided to make observations while looking closely at artwork on view in current exhibitions using 3D imagery of museum galleries. Students will then have fun making their own art inspired by the works on view in a live lesson guided by a MAM art educator. Meet friends in our virtual classroom, or make new friends, and enjoy being creative together

This program is geared towards children ages 5-12 with their adult companions, but all ages are welcome. Families will need to have a computer, tablet or phone with internet and access to Zoom, and will receive an email confirmation with the event link after registration. Participants will also need to provide their own materials, which will be listed on our website in advance.

Please have the following supplies handy:

  • Large Heavy White Paper (10"x12" piece of watercolor paper works best).
  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  • Watercolors
  • Brush
  • Water
