A Conversation on 40 Years of Dance, Photography, Art & Legacy

In September 1980, dancers Alfred Gallman and Mansa Mussa met at Rutgers University-Newark for the inception of the Newark Youth Ensemble, a new dance troupe under the auspices of the Garden State Ballet. The dancers from this effort would later form the core of what would become Gallman’s Newark Dance Theater. From that first meeting, Mussa, also a dance photographer, would chronicle Gallman’s professional and school dance companies over the next 40 years.

Precious Memories is a conversation about the collaboration between these two dance artists, and how their love of this art form contributed to an ongoing legacy about dance, photography, art, and community. Educators earn 2 hours of PD credit.
