Introduction to Painting

Learn the techniques of oil and acrylic painting in a fun environment.

Designed for beginner or intermediate student who would like to brush up on basics. Learn how to choose the right materials, as well as the basics of color theory and composition to create a painting.

This class is online with live instruction. Students will need to have a computer, tablet, or phone with internet and access to Zoom.  Students will also need to have class specific art materials that are listed here.

Julian Tejera

Born and raised in NJ, Julian Tejera has seldom gone a day without pencil in hand. Receiving his BFA in illustration from the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University in 2008, he worked as a freelance and portrait artist for a number of years. He later attended the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, graduating in 2015 with an MFA in painting.

While working at MAM, Julian discovered a passion for teaching, leading to the start of a career as a sought-after art instructor for teens and adults. 

His artwork seeks to draw the viewer into the quiet moments of his figurative subject matter, using strong design and technique to lead the eye around the picture plane and weave a visual narrative.
