Explore a variety of pastels, papers, and working methods that focus on layered color mixing. Bring an original, color photograph to work from and create your own unique work in soft pastel.
This class is intended for beginners with a drawing background as well as experienced artists who would like to try out a new medium.

Sarah Canfield
Sarah Canfield has exhibited her pastels, oils, and mixed media works widely in galleries, museums and nonprofit spaces, including her recent inclusion in the Personal Landscapes exhibition at MAM and the 2020 New Jersey Arts Annual at the Morris Museum. Her current work merges realistic and abstract painting with photography.
As a figure skater and dance lover, she is inspired by movement and ice in her artwork. She graduated with a BFA, cum laude, from Alfred University and is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America. She has been teaching drawing and painting for the past five years, joining the MAM Yard School faculty in 2019.
