Explore MAM’s Native American art collection to learn about key themes, motifs, techniques and narratives in the historical collection, as well as works by contemporary artists of indigenous identity. We will address these questions: what do we mean when we talk about Native American art? What issues arise in stewarding works collected in the 19th and 20th centuries? Who owns the interpretations of these works? Educators will receive a professional development credit of 2.5 hours for enrolling in this class.
