Raku Firing

This workshop will explore the concept of post-fire reduction known as Raku. Students will explore techniques such as traditional Raku, tinfoil sagger, horsehair embellishment, and slip resist. Students are required to bring bisque fired pieces to glaze and fire during the workshop. This workshop will take place in MAM’s parking lot.  Please see the new safety guidelines before registering.

Steve Jaskowak

Stephen Jaskowak has been working with clay, in one capacity or another, on a daily basis since 1983. He started out as a functional potter working in potteries throughout Wisconsin. He received his B.A. in 1996 from University of Wisconsin– Parkside and his M.F.A. from Miami University in 1998. Steve has been the ceramic studio manager at MAM since 2012, and is currently an adjunct professor at Kean University. Steve likes listening to the Grateful Dead and has been to over 437 of their concerts.
