Shibori Indigo Dyeing Workshop (Waitlist)
Shibori is sometimes called Japanese tie dye. Using the indigo plant, which produces a magnificent purplish blue dye, cloth is manipulated to create patterns that can be elegant and playful. In this workshop, you will learn how to fold, clamp, and wrap fabric to make traditional patterns. You will also learn how to embed various objects inside the fabric to make non-traditional patterns.
Everything will be provided but you are welcome to bring a 100% cotton item to dye – but do NOT bring anything larger than a T-shirt. You will receive instructions so that you can do this at home. Rest assured, you will want to do this again!
If you're having trouble registering or want to register after a class starts, please email [email protected] with your name, class, and phone number.

Miriam Jacobs
What Miriam Jacobs likes best is getting her hands dirty with pastels or clay or dye. Whether fine art or textile design, as long as she keeps her creative muscles engaged, she is happy.
Another surprising source of happiness: teaching art. Who knew? She became a certified art teacher and taught full time for a while, got two prints published, taught at private schools and other places, and, for many years, at Montclair Art Museum. She enjoys reading, playing Scrabble, doing virtual jigsaw puzzles, walking, and writing long emails.
