SummerART: Drawing and Painting Session 1
(Ages 8–12) Join us in a tented classroom on the Museum grounds while learning essential drawing and painting techniques, with a focus on landscape and picturing the natural world. Students will enjoy being creative with other young artists in this outdoor studio class, while sharpening observational and representational skills. Experimenting in both dry and wet media, students will explore the properties of line, value, color, texture and composition, capturing views in natural light and rendering expressive atmospheric effects, while developing their own personal artistic vision of the world.
Enrollment is limited to enhance social distancing and increase personalized attention. All COVID-19 guidelines, including mask-wearing and social distancing, will be followed, for a safe, social, creative experience. Each camper will be provided with their own art supplies so materials will not be shared with others. In the event that the museum must close or a pod must quarantine, or in the case of unsafe weather conditions, class will meet online via Zoom.
