SummerART: Studio Art Camp Session II

9:00 am
3:00 pm

Our in-person Studio Art Camp encourages experimentation, creative thinking and skill development in a safe, fun, supportive and socially engaging environment with other creative kids. Campers are grouped in age-specific art pods lead by our professional Teaching Artists, with enrollment limited to 12 children to ensure social distancing and personalized attention.

Each session is inspired by a different theme with exciting new projects providing age-appropriate challenges for campers to explore a variety of mediums and techniques in drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, and mixed media.

Lunch and recess will be supervised for safety and social distancing with organized games and activities.  Afternoons will focus on specialized instruction in a different art form, such as comic art or printmaking, so campers can sharpen medium-specific skills and develop their own voice for creative self-expression.

Classes will take place in our spacious studios and outdoors on the museum grounds. All COVID-19 guidelines, including mask-wearing and social distancing, will be followed, for a safe, social, creative experience. Each camper will be provided with their own art supplies so materials will not be shared with others. In the event that the museum must close or a pod must quarantine, camp will continue online via Zoom, and students will take their supplies home, so they will have all the supplies they need continue to develop their artistic skills.

Session II Theme: Make it Magic!

Explore the world of fantasy, mythology, and fairy tales. This session charms with art exploring mystical creatures and magical realms. Spellbound campers will create art inspired by wonderous wizards, fearsome dragons, astounding unicorns and enchanted environments. Master the art of illusion and let your imagination fly!

Afternoon Focus:

Ages 6–7: Puppetry – Campers create a variety of puppets such as hand puppets, shadow puppets and marionettes, as well as a basic theatre set.

Ages 8–9: Printmaking – Campers explore the endless possibilities of printmaking as a medium for self-expression, learning techniques such as silkscreen, collagraph, relief printing, monoprint, and stenciling.
