Chief Curator Gail Stavitsky and artist Jeff Kahm will engage in a lively dialogue pertaining to cultural exchanges between modern and contemporary American and Native American artists from the early twentieth century to the present. Dr. Stavitsky will be providing a sneak preview of an upcoming exhibition exploring the complex relationships between historic, modern and contemporary American and Native American art and culture. Jeff Kahm is Associate Professor in the Studio Arts Department of the Institute of American Indian Fine Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. A Plains Cree artist, Kahm describes his work as “rooted in indigenous abstraction and Modernist aesthetics.”
