The Vance Wall Art Education Center
With a recent gift totaling $5 million from Carol and Terry Wall/The Vance Wall Foundation, the Montclair Art Museum is proud to announce the creation of the Vance Wall Art Education Center at MAM, establishing the footing for enhanced educational outreach and accessible programs for people of all ages.
The Center encompasses all of our educational efforts, including the busy Yard School of Art, now near capacity with over 2,000 students currently enrolled, and nearly 30,000 alumni. The Vance Wall Center engages with over 95 schools in 54 school districts, 4 institutions of higher learning, and 140 community and business organizations ranging from the Cub Scouts to Hadassah, and senior groups and town arts councils from Sussex to Trenton, Yonkers to Allentown.
Construction of the Vance Wall Art Education Center has now been completed, providing a new museum education entry named for late board president Nathaniel C. Harris Jr., leading to the Helen and Bill Geyer Art Studio and new education offices. View our construction photo album to take a look behind the scenes. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held May 5 at 5 p.m. during Free First Thursday Night. This public celebration invited the entire community to embrace the new Center.
Our vision for the future of education is both programmatic and physical, both on- and off-site, to fully refine and deepen these partnerships, creating national models for art education. These dynamic partnerships will leverage strengths to provide better services, meet community needs, and expand comprehensive creative programming for every demographic from toddlers to seniors.
The Museum is seeking to spark creative energy, enhance on-site classrooms and programs, and improve the visitor experience with art. We are grateful to Carol and Terry Wall/The Vance Wall Foundation for their leadership in helping MAM prioritize arts education. We hope you’ll join us as we fulfill this exciting and visionary future for educational growth at MAM!
