Free First Thursday Night spotlights MAM’s current exhibitions with tours at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. December 1 is the last Free First Thursday Night opportunity to see do it, an interactive exhibition that encourages the audience to participate in instructions written by artists. Free First Thursday Night provides new opportunities to interact with the do it exhibition, including Adrian Piper’s The Humming Room, requiring all visitors to hum a tune in order to enter MAM’s George Inness Gallery. In addition, Allison Knowles' Homage to Each Red Thing (1996), a grid of red objects provided by community members, will be rotated to its final installation by MAM staff and docents. The Montclair State University Students who completed the Sol LeWitt wall drawing will also be on site to discuss their experience.

Live music kicks off the holiday season with special sets by the Newark Boy Chorus at 6:15 p.m. and the Metropolitones, an all female NYC-based a cappella group of alumni from the Seven Sisters Colleges, at 8 p.m. Eric DeLauro, a Frank Sinatra tribute artist, will flashback to the Rat Pack with classics from Ol’ Blue Eyes and contemporaries throughout the evening.

Rina Young Hand-crafted Silver Jewelry

NYC artist Rina S. Young has designed and created jewelry for twenty-four years, finding inspiration in the materials with which she works. “Inspired by both the tenacity and forgiveness of metal, I craft my work using form to expose the inherent sculptural process. The next step is the use of texture to create the final balance of the work.” Our limited edition selection of beautiful pendants and earrings, including many one-of-a-kind, will make a treasured holiday gift or add a streamlined gleam to your own jewelry wardrobe.

Artisan-made Brushed Alpaca Scarves

Discover the softness of natural organic fibers of the Andes Mountains in a spectrum of colors and designs with these beautiful brushed alpaca scarves. Artisan-made using traditional weaving methods from South America and fused with contemporary fashion trends, these alpaca scarves exude heritage and timeless style. A great look for both women and men, the scarves are both eco-friendly and sustainable, too. By purchasing these scarves, you are helping to maintain Incan traditions and keeping the talents and skills of these artisans alive by supporting small family farms.

Dani Barbe Raw Cut Gemstone Earrings

Dani Barbe is a singer/songwriter and jewelry designer who specializes in working with raw materials collected on her vagabond travels across the country. This Pittsburgh-based, mainly self-taught, jewelry designer has spent years perfecting her craft. Her striking raw cut gemstone stud and small bar earrings offer a stunning array of colors in appealing free-form shapes. Choose from Peridot, Blue Chalcedony, Rubellite, White Geode Druzy, Amethyst, Turquoise, Black Tourmaline, and more. Glacier Wildlife Holiday Bone-China Ware

Charming bone-china mugs and matching small plates feature an artistic image of holly-wreathed winter animals—choose from a glacier fox, glacier goose, or glacier polar bear. Glacier Wildlife is a true labor of love between artist Patti Gay and her non-verbal autistic son, Noah. Noah creates beautiful textures with sponges and finger-painting and Patti incorporates these into her designs to create new and imaginative works of art. Each mug comes gift-boxed for instant giving. Add the matching plate for an appealing set. A portion of Glacier Wildlife sales is proudly donated to autism charities in an effort to raise awareness.
