MAM After Hours: Art Meets Jazz

Thursday, February 08, 7:00 PM
Thursday, February 08, 9:00 PM
An Evening with Musician, Artist, and Poet Oliver Lake
Presented in partnership with MAM’s African American Cultural Committee
Co-sponsored by Montclair Chapter of The Drifters, Inc.
Take a musical journey at MAM!
The artistic scope of renowned saxophonist, composer, painter, and poet Oliver Lake’s half-century-long career is unparalleled. Lake’s breadth of disciplines can be traced back to his formative years with the Black Artists Group, the innovative St. Louis collective of musicians, poets, dancers, and painters he helped establish over 50 years ago.
On February 8, Oliver Lake will join other internationally-recognized jazz masters Pheeroan AkLaff and Santi Debriano. They will traverse an enormous jazz vocabulary on the fly and in unexpected ways that reveal its seemingly limitless possibility. Between sets, the artists will speak about their artistic journeys.

Trio3 will no longer be performing at Art Meets Jazz.
