Lesson Plans for Interwoven Power: Native Art / Native Knowledge

Interwoven Power: Native Knowledge / Native Art is a fresh reinstallation of Montclair Art Museum’s renowned collection of Indigenous art from North America. Foregrounding Native perspectives, the exhibition explores the transformative power of Indigenous knowledge. The exhibition features 50 historical, modern, and contemporary works by artists from more than 40 Native nations with emphasis on Lenape, Haudenosaunee, and other artists from Northeastern nations. These lessons are designed to enhance a visit to the Museum but can also be used on their own. They are also designed to be adaptable, so please use what works best for your classroom.

Lesson Plans for Century: 100 Years of Black Art at MAM

Century: 100 Years of Black Art at MAM is a survey of over 70 artworks from the Montclair Art Museum's collection encompassing diverse themes that are rooted in the intergenerational experience of Black artists. These lessons focus on the subject of identity. Students will examine artworks from the exhibition and engage in written and visual art activities. These lessons are designed to enhance a visit to the Museum but can also be used on their own. They are also designed to be adaptable, so please use what works best for your classroom.
