The Artist

Silver Medal

"Throughout my journey as an artist, I have tried to make each and every painting of mine emanate the human experience through painting expressions of love, wonder, sadness, hate, etc. I see my painting “Symphony”, as the mother of my paintings. She has learned to accept everything for what it is. She has reached a point of true self-love and reflection from which she sees the world’s beauty through. Her existence is a balanced symphony of everything human, of everything imperfect."

Silver Medal

"Overall, many of my pieces have been about the effect that humans have on our planet. It is something I deeply care about. In my medal-winning pieces, I tried to convey this with odd, but striking, symbolic imagery. It means so much to me that I was able to win this award, as I can share my own personal thoughts to other people through my artwork."

Silver Medal

"My piece, Child Of Nature, is about the effects our actions have on earth. The sculpture has a human face with its eyes permanently shut, its heart is exposed — these are metaphors for how we see, or don’t see, our world and the danger we are in."

STRAWberry Turtle

Silver Medal

"As for the story behind my artwork, it originally started as an assignment from my art instructor to create a piece based off off of fruit.  I decided to go with "strawberry".  I'm passionate about the environment and its health, so I decided to put a twist on the word "strawberry" to address a concern that much of the internet was fussing over at the time: the issue between plastic straws and sea turtles."
