Beginning/Intermediate Functional Ware
Learn the art of throwing basic functional shapes in clay on a pottery wheel. As a beginner, you will make cups, vases, and bowls. Intermediate potters will learn handle and lid making to create mugs, pitchers, and pots with lids. You will also learn trimming and glazing to transform your pieces into functional artistic pottery to use in your daily life. Classes include demonstrations and individual support in a creative and friendly environment. Each student receives 25 lbs of clay for use during class. Additional clay can be purchased as needed. Tools and glazes are provided in the studio.

Steve Jaskowak
Stephen Jaskowak has been working with clay, in one capacity or another, on a daily basis since 1983. He started out as a functional potter working in potteries throughout Wisconsin. He received his B.A. in 1996 from the University of Wisconsin– Parkside and his M.F.A. from Miami University in 1998. Steve has been the ceramic studio manager at MAM since 2012 and is currently an adjunct professor at Kean University. Steve likes listening to the Grateful Dead and has been to over 437 of their concerts.
