Printmaking Open Studio
Enjoy access to an etching press and dedicated time to work on your art in our printmaking studio. Open Studio time is self-guided, so participants should arrive prepared with their projects. However, if you need help, a printmaking instructor will be available for questions and technical assistance.
Artists may work in drypoint or Tetra-Pak etching, linoleum or woodblock printing, collagraph, and all forms of monoprinting. Basic printshop tools and supplies are provided including newsprint and brayers. Artists must bring their own paper and inks.
This affordable, inclusive, professional studio space welcomes a community of printmakers at all stages of artistic development. Participants are required to have some printmaking experience which may include MAM’s foundational Printmaking On and Off the Press, a press-focused printmaking workshop, or equivalent experience as a practicing printmaker. Because space is limited, registration for drop-in studio access is required 24 hours in advance.

Kristian Battell
Kristian Battell is an artist working and living in northern New Jersey, having recently completed her Masters of Fine Art at the School of Visual Arts in New York, NY. She always considered herself more of a traditional printmaker, having a BFA in Printmaking and Art of the Book from Purchase College, but the pandemic has shifted her practice to sculpture and installation. These sculptures focus on climate change and upcycling the materials that surround her in her everyday life. She loves bringing this practice to a wider audience, especially by teaching kids about our impact on the environment and the change we can make through art.
