FREE with Museum admission and for members, with advance registration required.

In this special Sunday Studio designed for all ages and abilities, multidisciplinary artist Josephine 'Amanda' will guide families step-by-step in creating one-of-a-kind plant-based art and building relationships with our “plant-cestors.” Through hands-on flower hammering instruction, guests will create small sachets infused with plant magic. Using natural materials such as rocks, flowers, herbs, and leaves, participants will hammer natural dyes out of the plants to make a one-of-a-kind designed tea bags to take home. Come connect with beauty, rhythm, and ritual through every strike and bloom!

JOSEPHINE ‘AMANDA’

Josephine ‘Amanda’ (Taíno, Nuyorican) is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and trauma doula
whose work weaves together healing arts, ancestral connection, and self-trust. A member of
Urban Indigenous Collective’s community advisory board, her hands-on workshops invite
people of all ages to slow down and build intentional relationships with the land and the
ancestors who came before us. As founder of Sacred Witness Sanctuary (SWS), Amanda
offers trauma doula support in one-on-one and group containers rooted in using arts-based
healing and ancestral connection to cultivate post-traumatic growth.

Amanda has hosted more than 100 events for all ages across New York City, with creative
collaborations including BronxArtSpace, the U.S. State Department, New York University, and
the National Alliance to Advance Fat Acceptance. As a healing arts educator, she guides
under-resourced young people in building practical life skills, confidence, and creative voice.
