Free Community Program

Make art and meet your neighbors! In partnership with NJPAC Arts & Well-Being, Montclair Art Museum invites people of all ages and abilities to experience the power of the arts to support health, expression, and connection. Through cyanotype printing, participants use light, time, and everyday objects to reveal the extraordinary in their surroundings and create collaborative portraits that explore how community leaves an imprint on who we are.

This community art program is free and open to all, led by Javelin Manansala, NJPAC Artist-in-Residence at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.

About NJPAC Arts & Well-Being

NJPAC Arts & Well-Being logo

Like exercise and good nutrition, the arts are good for our health. NJPAC Arts & Well-Being develops initiatives and programs that amplify the health benefits of the arts and measure the impact of the Arts Center on community health and well-being.

Research shows that attending or participating in arts programs — such as a museum visit, live concerts, dance classes, or writing activities — helps us live longer, happier, healthier lives. Through ArtsRx, the first arts-on-prescription program in the US with an insurance carrier as a key partner (Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey), NJPAC is providing free access to a network of arts organizations across the city of Newark and Essex County to help people live their healthiest lives.

ArtsRx increases access to the arts for those who could not access or pay for programs on their own, supporting holistic health and well-being of the greater Newark community. The program also contributes to the local creative economy through supporting a network of local arts organizations. Learn more about NJPAC Arts & Well-Being at njpac.org/well.
