MAM Conversations: Sonya Kelliher-Combs

Come with MAM Conversations on a virtual trip to Alaska to visit artist Sonya Kelliher-Combs’s studio. Kelliher-Combs uses a mix of synthetic, organic, traditional, and modern materials to examine the relationship between Western and Native cultures and identities. We’ll be discussing her current projects as well as two of her works in MAM’s collection that will soon be on view as part of New York to New Mexico: New Acquisitions, opening on February 7, 2021.
Consultant, curator, and scholar Monica Buckle will join us to moderate the conversation. Buckle is a member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and was the Visual Arts Coordinator and Public Relations Specialist at The American Indian Community House in New York City. Additionally, she is a Development Committee Member with The Fine Art Museum of Sedona and serves on the Board of Directors with the Mesa Verde Foundation in Colorado.
