Ceramics On and Off the Wheel
Create functional and decorative pieces while exploring the fundamentals of clay, tools, surface treatments, and glazing. You will use the wheel to create clay pieces that can be taken off the wheel to continue the creative process with hand-building techniques.
All levels are welcome.
Each student receives 25 lbs of clay for use during class. Additional clay can be purchased as needed. Tools and glazes are provided in the studio.

Deborah Guzmán Meyer
Deborah Guzmán Meyer is a Montclair-based artist by way of Chicago, NYC, and the Dominican Republic. She has a hybrid name because she's Latina but married a gringo. She earned her BA at Pace University and her MFA at Columbia College in Chicago. Her work has been featured in exhibitions and collected throughout the country, including Miami, Chicago, New York, and France. She's been an art instructor at the Montclair Art Museum since 2011. She likes to think of herself as a modern renaissance woman, curious about all forms of art and willing and able to try her hand at it. Art is why she gets up in the morning.
