Naked Raku
Naked Raku
This alternative raku process offers ceramic students the experience of working with live fire on raku surfaces such as: tin foil saggar, horse hair, alvaro (using yeast as a surface enhancer), slip resist, and ferric chloride. For proper results, it is recommended that all work have terra sigillata applied to greenware before the bisque fire. Terra sigillata is available from the ceramic studio after you register for this workshop. You'll leave at the end of the day with finished work, and a strong understanding of this firing technique.
All glazes, Raku tongs, and safety gear are provided. Participants must wear closed-toed shoes and 100% cotton or other natural fiber clothing (no synthetics).
See the Yard School Policies for complete health and safety information.
