SummerART: Studio Art Camp Session 3

SummerART: Studio Art Camp Session 3

To
9:00 am
3:00 pm

Our in-person Studio Art Camp encourages experimentation, creative thinking, and skill development in a safe, fun, supportive, and socially engaging environment with other creative kids. Campers are divided into age-specific groups led by our professional Teaching Artists, with limited enrollment to increase personalized attention. Classes take place in our spacious studios and include creative time on the Museum grounds.

Each session is inspired by a different theme with exciting new projects providing age-appropriate challenges for campers to explore a variety of mediums and techniques in drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, and mixed media. Supervised lunch and recess take place outside with organized games and activities. Afternoons focus on specialized instruction in a different art form, such as comic art or printmaking, so campers can sharpen medium-specific skills and develop their own unique voice for creative self-expression.

Session 3 Theme: Roar & Explore

Grab your binoculars and your paintbrushes, and join us on a wild adventure through jungles, forests, and savannas! This camp explores animal habitats, from the tallest trees to the deepest caves. Unleash your creativity as you make art inspired by the animals that roam free in the wild. Bring your favorite furry creatures to life in every project, building skill and imagination! Let's make art roar!

Campers in Studio Art Camp will enjoy specialized instruction by teachers with expertise in specific art forms in the afternoons. Each session features a different Afternoon Focus for each age level.

Afternoon Focus:

Ages 6-7: Puppetry: Create a variety of puppets such as hand puppets, shadow puppets, and marionettes, as well as a basic theater set.

Ages 8-9: Printmaking: Explore the endless possibilities of printmaking, learning techniques such as silkscreen, collagraph, relief printing, monoprint, and stenciling.

Ages 10-12: Comic Art: Design imaginative characters and learn the basics of comic book art, from storyboarding and composition to speech bubbles and lettering techniques.
